We had the opportunity to see interesting lighting solutions in the past, but none of them isn’t interesting and tempting like this real levitating lamp, dubbed Flyte. This Levitating Lamp is not an illusion. Created by Simon Morris, this lamp literally levitate and use principles of science to give us an opportunity to enjoy the fascinating spectacle.
Morris’ ultimate dream was to create a floating light source without using batteries. Now, with Flyte, he’s turned his wish into reality. The lamp uses the wireless power discovered by scientist Nikola Tesla and the magnetic levitation. With wooden base, this lamp has a hidden magnets that give her the ability to levitate above the base.
To switch on or off, all you have to do is gently touch her smooth wooden base. LED bulb that is here in the limelight, receives its electricity wirelessly from the base. It’s about long-lasting LED, so the bulb will never have to be changed—Morris estimates the bulb would last about 50,000 hours, or about 12 hours a day for 11 years.
In addition to the supply of the bulb itself, this wood base made from sustainably sourced ash, oak, and walnut, can be used to wirelessly charge your phone, making it the ideal accessory for any desk.
Otherwise, this concept is actually part of the Kickstarter campaign, who offers to young designers and innovators the opportunity to show their projects throughout the world.
