During 2015 we first introduced Lexus’ hoverboard which is still limited to a specially designed training ground and never enter into an open sale, and now we’ll see ArcaBoard – the first functional hoverboard in the world that can be ordered. The first deliveries of ArcaBoard Hoverboard will start in April 2016, and this vehicle that is marketed as a “revolution in transport” is the work of the company Arca Space Corporation, which was founded by Dumitru Popescu of Romania, and is now located in New Mexico.
Hoverboard design includes 36 electric fans and a battery that is located between them. Its length is 144cm, width 76cm, weight about 81kg, and can raise a person weighing up to 110kg with a maximum speed of 20km/h.
Special sensors, limit the speed hoverboard, but also stabilize the aircraft, which can also be managed via the application on the smartphone. Once you master the principles driving, stabilizers can be switched off and hoverboard can be controlled manually, by body movements.
The engines that power fans have a total of 272 horsepower (about 430 of pure thrust), so the battery quite quickly is empty. Maximum flight time is just 6 minutes, and recharging the battery lasts up to six hours, but Arca plans to make a quick charger that will allow charging for 35 minutes.
