Imagine owning a piece of the Old Metropolitan Opera House’s extravagant curtain? And that piece is in a shape of luxury accessory. Now, that’s possible thanks to Ukrainian designer Clara Kasavina, who uses her talent to transform the costumes, curtains and chandeliers from The Metropolitan Opera into stunning jewelry and accessories.
Clara Kasavina has created a Metropolitan Opera Collection. Own a piece of Met history with a highly collectible evening bags crafted from costumes worn in Met performances, clutches made from the iconic and lavish original curtain that was salvaged when the Old Met was torn down in 1966, as well as crystal pendants made from the Old Met’s chandeliers.
Or, what about wearing a piece of The Met around your neck? Clara has taken beautifully-faceted, 100-year-old Swarovski crystal balls from the chandeliers of The Old Metropolitan Opera House and fashioned them into two styles of pendants.
Kasavina, who runs her eponymous label with her husband Misha Berger, has been designing handbags, minaudières, belts and jewelry for over 30 years. Her designs have been worn by celebrities (including trendsetters like Beyoncé, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez), and recognized for their superior craftsmanship. In 2011, she won the Annual Independent Designer Handbag Award for InStyle Magazine’s Ready Red Carpet Evening Bag.
