A collection of 197 vintage ski posters advertising “Golden Years of Winter Holidays” is expected to fetch £1 million at auction. The posters are actually pictures of Europe’s top skiing destinations created in the early 20th century when the first resorts began competing against one another and went on to be declared as one with the most beauty and glamour.
The pieces up for sale include workd by artists such as Emil Cardinaux, Alex Walter Diggelmann, Walter Koch and Swiss artist Carl Moos. Some of the works are incredibly valuable, such as a framed poster for Engadin St Moritz, featuring a ski jumper flying through the air, which is is expected to fetch £25,000.
Magnificent posters, with the prices ranging from £700 to £25,000 will be auctioned by Christie’s on January 21.
