More than half a century, Volkswagen has launched its van which immediately grew into a favorite of all who were in love and peace in the world. This specimen is for sure the biggest proof of that. During the seventies when hippie cultural movemente was very active there was not even more popular vans for travel and socializing of Volkswagen “Type 2” van. The model which was first made in 1950 was produced until 2013, and has undergone many processing by enthusiasts. The team from Indonesia has even managed to set a record.

Indonesian mechanic, Vaha Pamungkas with his team of 30 workers managed to transform two “Type 2” vans into one with an overall length of 7.6 meters. It is by far the longest van of this type in the world. The existing diesel engine with 1.5 liters was not sufficient for larger chassis, so they installed two-liter engine. Overall the changes have cost them about £20,000 (400million Indonesian Rupiah).

During 63 years of production, sales totaled over 10 million copies. Last models are assembled in Brazil, but three years ago, they went down in history as the government of that country ordered that all new vehicles must have airbags. When it comes to the length, the previous record was in 2009 when the intrepid mechanic also made a 6.9 metre-long Van, which was later sold to an Australian for £11,200.
