Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster from 1937 has been sold at RM Sotheby’s sale at the Arizona Baltmore. As stated in a brief news, the car had changed hands for $9.9 million, which is less than what was estimated before the auction when it was mentioned that it will be sold for the sum of $10 to $13 million. However, it is still the most valuable car ever sold at this auction, because it surpassed the previous record holder – Ferrari 250 LM from 1964 which last year sold for $ 9.6 million.
1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster still has all its original parts including a 5.4L inline 8-cylinder engine and was coachbuilt with an array of bodywork styles. It’s one of only 419 produced copies.
