Marathon is one of the most difficult disciplines, but Ross Edgley decided to make it even more difficult by dragging the car of 1.4 tons (Mini Cooper Countryman). The 30-year-old athletic trainer from Cheshire, England, ran a full 42 kilometers and 196 meters for nearly full day. It should be noted that a good part of the road crossed by the rain and the dark, often in complete agony. It took 19 hours 36 minutes and 43 seconds to complete the entire distance.
Ross called this “the world’s strongest marathon” and the reason he ran was to attract donations and funds for the four humanitarian organizations that helped dear to him to diagnose serious diseases.
However, preparing for the whole endeavor required the the literally blood, sweat and tears. As a former international athlete, a swimmer and water polo player, Ross knew that for his success is crucial to prepare his body to perfection, as with diet and exercise. Britain has trained 14 hours a day, and he asked the former strongmen Jeff Cape and Andy Bolton and athlete Linford Christie to be his coaches.
In addition to strenuous exercise, he entered 6,000 calories in proteins and fats to make enough fuel for his body to endure the 42-kilometer-long endeavor.
