One of the stars of this year’s Geneva International Motor Show is the Bugatti Chiron. Now, this world’s fastest production car is incarnated into luxury watch. Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier has created the new PF-Bugatti Type 390 concept watch, inspired by the squat, sloping lines of the new Chiron. This isn’t the first watch that Parmigiani Fleurier has worked on together with Bugatti. Two brands have enjoyed a 10-year partnership through which some spectacular timepieces were introduced and to mark the arrival of this new car, the watch brand is working on a new special watch that will be unveiled at the 2017 SIHH.
The PF-Bugatti 390 Concept watch is “representative of a new generation of Bugatti timekeepers,” the watchmaker states.
The design of the watch features a tubular movement with a coaxial structure echoing the motor of the Chiron. The winding tube, gear train, power reserve, and tourbillon are all in separate compartments, and it bears the signature of racing driver Louis Chiron, who inspired the car.
The coaxial shape divides the functional parts of the movement into separate compartments, both of which are in “mutual interaction,” resembling the motor of a car.
Prices haven’t been announced yet, but knowing that the last Bugatti-branded Parmigiani Fleurier was valued at around $350,000, this one wouldn’t come cheaper.
