Volkswagen celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI model with the special Clubsport Edition 40 launched in the UK. In essence, it is a version of the Golf GTI Clubsport, named a little differently. Model boasts an aggressive aero package, which includes a new front bumper, revised side sills and a sporty rear diffuser. The car is also equipped with a rear spoiler and unique 18-inch wheels.

In the interior, there are sports seats upholstered in Alcantara, red stitching and gear shift inspired by a golf ball. The sporty steering wheel is also covered with Alcantara. There is also a “Honeycomb 40” trim and special floor mats, edged with red color. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 265 HP. However, with the “overboost” function, available is 290 HP and 350 Nm.
Transmission may optionally be six-speed manual or six-speed DSG. Regardless of the selected transmission, the Golf accelerates to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 is available at a starting price of 30,875 pounds or about $43,600. Only 1,000 copies will be available in the UK and delivery starts this summer.
