But, now the family-run company transcended itself and strengthened its position in luxury market with its £100,000 ($144,000) bed called Vividus. When customers shell out six figures for a bed, they’re paying for two things: workmanship and materials. A frame of queen-sized bed is made of the redwood pine from north Sweden, and not to forget comfort of the hand-sewn layers of horsehair and cotton and beutiful design of Hästens’ patented blue checkered print. Hästens’ craftsmen work for over 320 hours on each Vividus bed.

Hästens also sells more affordable beds, starting at $6,000. A fifth-generation family business, Hästens began in 1852 as a saddle and carriage furniture company. It has supplied beds to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden since 1952 and has stores from Johannesburg to Manhattan.
