Whether you are a fan of Porsche brand or not, we believe that this news will make you excited. If you have deep pockets and are planning a visit to Monaco next month, you should know that auction house RM Sotheby’s will sell their unique, legal Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution. Before we go into details, you should know that this legal race car went through a restoration process in the UK, which means that now this Porsche model from 1997 will be more than capable to give you an adrenaline rush.
Its history includes participation in the Daytona 24 hours and the other GT championships, with professional racing which occupied it between August 1999 and May 2003. This racing car is designed with a new concept of engine amidships as opposed to in the rear as with all other 911-based racing cars.
911 GT1 was to overtake a prototype, which had to go through a process of de-tuning to be able to drive on city streets, and only one person will be lucky to do so. It has a front end of 993 model, double racing suspension, ultra-lightweight body of carbon fiber and aluminum elements.
The car is powered by a flat-6 racing engine with water-cooled cylinders and heads, and its intake system was pressurized by a pair of large KKK turbochargers of the type used on the GT2. With over 600 horsepower and technologies which car manufacturers really properly used, this Porsche is one of the rarest and most valuable cars of today.
If we consider that only 41 Porsche 911 GT1 ever produced (18 racing cars and 23 streetcars), possession of this car really is a unique opportunity, which further contributes to the fact that you can drive it on city streets.
The expected price of this model is in the range of €2.7 million to €3 million ($3.96 million to $4.4 million), which for some makes it even more desirable. The car will be auctioned on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
