You probably already know about fridge tech such as: “Custom cooling”, “Ice maker”, “Flex Zone.” But, Samsung’s latest smart refrigerator is technology above all technologies. Their Family Hub smart refrigerator costs $5,800 but comes with a few features which make it world’s smartest kitchen appliance. The centerpiece of the refrigerator is a massive 21.5-inch touchscreen where you post your reminders by means of digital sticky notes and also access a number of pre-installed apps.
Inside of the door, you’ll find the trio of cameras snapping a shot of the fridge’s contents when it closes. That, coupled with wireless connectivity, means you can take a quick look at the contents of the fridge via a mobile app.
The cameras also work with the fridge’s “Food Reminders” app, which lets you drag and drop expiration date reminders on various foods in the fridge. If you have a bundle of vegetables that expires in four days, for example, you could post a label on the foods to indicate they should be used within that time.
Also, you can instantly order groceries with the help of apps such as Groceries by MasterCard.
There’s an app for doodling notes, an app for your family calendar, weather, a timer, an app to control fridge-things like the alarm and temperature zones, and so on.
Maybe the coolest feature is TV mirroring. There’s an app that will mirror (and offer basic controls) for a Samsung TV that’s on the same Wi-Fi network. You can also play Pandora or TuneIn radio on the door-embedded speakers.
The Family Hub refrigerator starts at $5,799.
