Of all things it could have invented, Samsung has released Galaxy Surfboard. Samsung Brasil made a promo video showing Brazilian surfer and 2014 ASP World Tour Champion Gabriel Medina using the Galaxy Surboard. It is actually prototype which was a year-and-a-half in the making and is result of collaboration with advertising company Leo Burnett and Johnny Cabianca, who helped shape the innovative project.
In the video, Medina is a lonely surfer who needs messages of encouragement flashing up beneath his feet. His surfboard is paired with his Samsung Galaxy S7, which lies in a concealed compartment. Galaxy Surfboard was specially developed for Medina to improve communication between him and his coach, so it features LED lights that display useful surfing info like wind direction and wave info, as well as push tips from his coach to keep the surfer in check while alone in the high seas.
For now, only Medina can enjoy Samsung’s latest toy.
