Vertu’s exquisite British craftsmanship is well-known far and wide. Their Aster model is a no compromise, luxury smartphone with a strong processor, long-lasting battery, an excellent camera, and your own (real) personal assistant. And it is once again in the spotlight as the brand’s latest expression of timeless elegance created in collaboration with leather artist Carina Sohl. The new addition to the Aster range is Aster Leaf that represents the fingerprint of nature, created by hand-treated leather.
Featuring beautiful wild raspberry leaves embossed on to soft aniline leather, with a limited edition of 100, each handset is guaranteed to be unique.
When asked about the story of how she began working with leather and nature in her unique way, Carina said:
‘One autumn day in October 2006, I was on my daily walk by the sea and found a beautiful half-decayed leaf on the ground. Delighted by the details and the fantastic shape of the leaf, I wanted to somehow freeze a moment of this beauty and preserve it. The leaf I found gave birth to a new idea of merging natural plants and flowers with leather. In my studio, I experimented to find the right type of technique, leather and plant material.
‘After years of research and development, we are now a leather workshop for fashion houses, luxury companies and private clients who are looking for unique and specific expertise.’
Taking inspiration from Carina, Vertu has engraved the metalwork of the phone with a similar leaf pattern, so the beautiful design echoes throughout each piece. The phone comes with a matching purse-style leather case, also embossed with Carina’s design, and five exclusive nature-inspired wallpapers.
