The Playboy mansion, the home of Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner, finally found its new owner. Billionaire principal of Metropoulos & Co. and the current owner of Hostess Brands, the maker of Twinkies, Daren Metropoulos, plans to buy the 20,000-square-foot house in Holmby Hills, a Los Angeles neighborhood near Beverly Hills. He currently lives in a $18m mansion next door which he bought from Hefner and plans join the two properties together to create a 7.3 acre compound. Metropoulos has agreed to let Hefner, 90, live in it for the rest of his life.
The house was listed at $200 million, but the final sale price was not disclosed.
“We can confirm that the Playboy Mansion is in escrow with Daren Metropoulos as the buyer,” a Playboy spokesperson said.
“Due to confidentiality restrictions, we are not able to comment on any specifics, including what contingencies need to be cleared to close the sale.”
Metropoulos is the son of C. Dean Metropoulos, the Greece-born billionaire who once owned Pabst Brewing Co.
