One Suzuki had a very interesting, but also exotic “life story” that immediately attracted our attention, because it is definitely worth reading. The main hero of our story, Suzuki GSX250, spent his days on the island Otoni, owned by a retired guard of the local lighthouse. According to legend, Otoni was the home of the nymph Calypso, who extended Odysseus’ travel to seven years, and motorcycle remained faithful to the story, because its trip to the workshop in Athens lasted for three whole months, instead of the usual three days.
The aim of the workshop people from “C-Racer”, founded in 2008 and specialized in the production of “custom” cafe-racer, scrambler and “flat-tracks” models was to create a retro style motorcycle with modern elements, as well as a comfortable driving position, to be as convenient for everyday use. This two-wheeler was the ideal opportunity to use their own parts in the making.
After careful consideration, it was decided that the right choice was SCR3AM universal seat and URFF2S fenders and fuel tank wasn’t touched for two reasons. First, because its appearance is dominated by the whole phenomenon, and the other is the desire to balance the loss of weight incurred “removing” other parts. The only thing that was done to the fuel tank is to raise its the rear for 2 cm.
The last part of the frame is cut off and re-arranged to coincide with the new headquarters, and care was taken to match the lines of the fuel tank. All electrical components are hidden under the shell, or under the seat. Under the seat is installed the air hole, to better regulate the flow of the same.
Headlight housing is modified, and headlight itself is moved closer to the forks. The speedometer was also arranged, holds from Yamaha FZ1 are placed, and retain the existing rims, with the choice for the tire fell on HO3 Mita models of classic look.
The main modification is the conversion of “twin” damping to “mono-shock.” To do that, it was necessary to strengthen the rear fork (it was used the unit from Aprilia Tuono 1000).
For nearly two years, motorcycle was exposed to the weather conditions and, especially, the sea air, and is supposed to replace any part that is showing signs of wear and tear. In that group were found aggregate, carburetor, forks, and was replaced the air filter.
Regarding exhaust, the “C-Racer” workshop didn’t want some of the existing “aftermarket” solutions, but they created the unit’s unique design. “Custom” silencers are installed and the final result was perfect. Settings exhaust lasted a whole week.
Widely discussed the combination of colors to make the choice that you see at the end was a mere coincidence. However, black with details in the “champagne gold” was the perfect solution. Name Sugar Kane is the nickname of the main character of the film “Some Like It Hot” in 1959, played by the famous Marilyn Monroe.
This GSX250 was spectacular on the streets of Athens, attracting glances wherever it went.
