Cruising is much more advanced in the last few years … and already next year Miami will get a new terminal that will be able to receive and anchor some of the largest cruise ships in the world. The agreement on the realization of this project was made between Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited and Miami Dade County. Architecture firm Broadway Malyan has been appointed to design its new $100 million cruise terminal.

Ships like the elegant Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis class will receive a warm welcome in the terminal with over 1,700 square meters, and is expected around 1.8 million passengers to pass through the terminal annually.
This project will be very good for the economy of the city with well-paid jobs that will be around four thousand, but at the same time is an gratitude of the company Royal Caribbean, which began to operate in this city fifty years ago.

Nicknamed the “Crown of Miami,” the Terminal has been designed to reflect the shape of a crown when viewed from the water, the “M” of “Miami” when viewed from the east or west, and “waves rising or ships passing” when viewed side-on.
Additionally, the design incorporates sustainability elements such as an energy-efficient window glazing, rainwater collection, and recycling, which will be used for cooling, toilet flushing, and irrigation.

Efficient building materials like a prefabricated frame and prefabricated flooring panels mean that the building can be constructed quickly.
Construction of Terminal is planned to begin in 2017, and the project is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.
