Australian designer Marc Newson has once again collaborated with Louis Vuitton, this time to redesign iconic rolling trunks making them lighter and more spacious on the inside. Alongside the classicVuitton monogram canvas, the Damier graphite finish, Newson’s collection of New Rolling Luggage includes seven colors of Epi leather with only minimal logos. Each colorway is available in one of three sizes: mini (50 x 35 x 20 cm), cabin (55 x 39 x 21 cm) and maxi (68x 46 x 26 cm.) with only minimal logos.
Neson was able to free up an additional 15 per cent of internal space by opting to mould the trunk from a lightweight, durable polypropylene composite material. The change reduces the case’s weight and places the workings of the retractable handles outside the case, making this an ideal carrier for regular business travellers.
In addition to the launch of the new luggage, Louis Vuitton is offering a 48-hour repair service, available in 14 cities across the globe.
This is Newson’s second collaboration with the fashion house. In 2014, he reimagined the iconic monogram leather of Vuitton into a playful backpack, complete with bright orange sheepskin patches.
