As announced, Gooding & Company at Pebble Beach auction sold Ferrari 250 LWB California Spider Competizione, for the sum of $18.15 million. This silver specime from 1959, has Scaglietti bodywork, and in 1960 it took 5th place in the 12 Hours of Sebring race. Also, it is one of only nine aluminum-bodied LWB California Spider, and has a factory-slip differential, disc brakes, fuel tank of 136 liters, Abarth racing exhaust system …
The car is powered by a V12 engine with an output between 275 and 280 hp, which is some 50 horses more than an ordinary LWB California Spider.
Should also mention that the car was involved in a number of Concours events, including the Cavallino Classic 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2011 where it won the Platinum Award Competizione Cup.
