Rare prototype Apple 1 Computer built by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs way back in 1976 has fetched $815,000 in an auction hosted by charity auction site CharityBuzz. During the final minutes of the auction, bids reached $1.2 million, but it appears the last bid was pulled just seconds before the auction ended. However, that was one of the highest prices an Apple-1 has sold for at auction.

The Apple-1 is the very first Apple computer, the first personal computer marketed to consumers, and the first Apple product in history.
Wozniak and Jobs together built about 200 computers that probably bear little resemblance to the Apple technology today. One of these prototypes that was auctioned was snapped up by Glenn and Shannon Dellimore, the co-founders of cosmetics firm Glamglow. They already own an Apple 1 computer and believe that these objects will increase in value over time.
The computer they purchased has been dubbed the “Celebration” and its unique among Apple 1 computers because it is the only known unit to feature a pre-production circuit board. A blank “green” PCB board was never sold to the public and was not a part of a known production run.

Unlike other Apple-1 computers that have fetched lower prices, the Celebration Apple-1 is not in working condition but could be restored to full functionality with minor tweaks.
The auction included an original Apple-1 ACI cassette board, pre-NTI, with Robinson Nugent sockets, a period correct power supply, an early Apple-1 BASIC cassette labeled and authenticated by original Apple employee Daniel Kottke, Apple-1 manuals, marketing materials, and Cassette Board schematics.
