As part of their continued partnership with Shelby Cobra and in celebration of the 25th anniversary of McCall’s Annual Motorworks Revival, Baume & Mercier are releasing four limited edition “Legendary Driver” chronograph watches to honor four drivers who sat behind the wheel of the furiously powered Shelby Cobra CSX1228 over fifty years ago.
“Baume & Mercier has successfully risen to an incredible challenge: to give a chance to relive the spirit of competition of the legendary Cobra cars and of paying tribute to their heroic drivers through the launch of the Capeland Shelby Cobra 1963 – Legendary Drivers Edition,” said Alain Zimmermann CEO de Baume & Mercier.
The sapphire crystal houses a tachometer and the menacing Cobra emblem, while the drivers’ racing number, No. 15 (Dan Gurney), No. 50 (Ken Miles), No. 97 (Dave MacDonald), and No. 96 (Allen Grant) is also part of the design. Each of these four watches feature a bold 44mm case size and there are two different material variances in either stainless steel or ADLC-steel for a smokier, sleeker finish.
Movement is provided by the durable Valjoux 7753, which delivers 48 hours worth of power reserve and it’s also visible through the case back.
Each of the four Baume & Mercier Legendary Driver Capeland Shelby Cobra watches will be part of a 15-piece run and will be available exclusively in North America, at $4,850.
