TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph Watch has a classic shape with a white lacquered dial, precision-painted numbers and design inspired by sport chronometer of the time. Produced in only 100 copies on the occasion of the Great Jubilee of the first production micrographs, and since then it’s been exactly 100 years ago. The case, which is characterized by Carrera models comes with support and is fastened to the dashboard: it is the watch, but also extremely precise instrument for measuring time.
Robust and practical technical instrument, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph represents a combination of revolutionary technology and functional designs seen in sports instruments for measuring time in 1920.
Precise. Legit. Robust. Large, spherical rippled crown is at 12 o’clock framed with typical buttons in the form of “mushroom”, which is reminiscent of a precursor Heuer counter.
Sporty white lacquered dial, with black painted numbers and needles, classic Heuer logo and the inscription “Made in Switzerland”, faithfully depicted as on the original model, ensures optimum readability.
Legibility is enhanced by the blued steel hands for the chronograph indications, with a tear drop shaped counterweight on the minute hand and an arrow on the counter hands. Rounded leaf-shaped hour and minute hands typical of the Roaring Twenties. A display at once utilitarian and oozing authentic retro charm.
The anniversary model TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph is based on the speed of unique produced mechanism for the first time presented to the world in 2011: TAG Heuer Calibre Mikrograph 1/100 second. It is the first mechanical chronograph with integrated gear that shows 1/100 seconds using a central pointer.
Protected by 11 patents, caliber consists of 480 components and includes two balances, one regular 4Hz (28,800vph) balance for the time, and one 100Hz (360,000vph) balance for the chronograph. The Mikrograph movement is COSC certified, uses some 62 jewels, and can power the chronograph for up to 90 minutes or the timekeeping for up to 42 hours. The 90-minute autonomy of the chronograph is due to the huge amount of energy required to fulfill the demand of that 1/100th measure and its ultra high-speed heartbeat.
In addition to its remarkable timekeeping performance, this automatic bidirectional calibre features hours, minutes, a power reserve indication at 9 o’clock, a date window at 4:30, a central 1/100 second chronograph hand, a chronograph 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock and a seconds counter at 3 o’clock.
2016 TAG Heuer Mikrograph 100th Anniversary will be available this Fall, priced at $21,000.
