W Hotels Worldwide is celebrating the opening of its 50th hotel and its first location in India with a new capsule collection designed by Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia. The colorful collection includes a pair of off-the-shoulder ruffled tunics and three dresses — all decorated with pom-pom tassels to resemble the marigold flowers ubiquitous in the region — as well as a straw beach tote and turquoise glass bead earrings.
Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia, the husband-and-wife duo behind New York-based label Sachin & Babi — natives of Delhi and Bombay, respectively — said designing the Goa collection was a “serendipitous homecoming of sorts” that allowed them to revisit their childhood and teenage years, which were spent in the western Indian region.
The Sachin & Babi x W Goa selection, which ranges in selling price from $275 to $765, will be offered at W Goa, opening on Nov. 1, with find objects offered at whotelsthestore.com.
The Ahluwalias, CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) members since 2014, will host an event in Mumbai on Oct. 7, to fete the collection.
