London designer has created a new kind of accommodation, which is partially refined and luxurious, and partly playful.
Located in London’s forest in Dorset County, Woodsman’s Treehouse, is built on long stilts high up amongst the branches of three oak trees. It is in excess of 30ft high on the roof deck. It is a substantial structure that has been carefully designed to not stress the trees in any way.
The construction of this project lasted five months, and here you can expect a sauna and a slide for children. So when we say playful and luxurious at the same time, we really mean.
Inside, you’ll find your own private kingdom: a king-sized bed, a double-ended copper bath and the rotating fireplace that can be pointed toward the bed, sofa or kitchen.
A particularly notable feature is a window in the floor, looking down to the stream below. The thick insulating walls feature picture windows that offer woodland views, and there is ceiling window above the bed that looks up at the impressive oak canopy above.
Open terrace of the cottage is adorned with a jacuzzi, and you can try yourself in preparing pizzas in special pizza oven or some tasty barbeque.
The transition from interior to exterior here gets a new meaning, thanks to a shower and a deck chair that is ideal for an afternoon nap.
The construction of this tree house costed about $200,000, and from its first day, constantly has new guests and is booked for several months in advance. So if you want to spend a couple of spring or summer days here, book your place on time.
