Twilight Zone from 30 years ago is now a tourist attraction. In April 1986, exploded Reactor No. 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, releasing large amounts of radioactive chemicals into the air, which contaminate millions of square kilometers.
About 50 thousand residents of the nearby town of Pripyat, which Soviet authorities built for Chernobyl employees, had to move out within two days. On the site of an explosion killed 30 people, and several thousand more from the effects of radiation.
Today, Pripyat is safe, but the radiation levels in the zone are still high, flourishing wildlife means that the area is now deemed safe enough for humans.
