Julien’s Auctions, the world record breaking auction house to the stars, has announced its highly anticipated Icons and Idols: Rock n’ Roll auction to take place at Julien’s Auctions’ Los Angeles gallery on Saturday, November 5, 2016 following Julien’s Auctions’ monumental November 4th auction of The Estate of Frank and Gail Zappa. Hundreds of pieces of iconic rock n’ roll artifacts will go under the hammer representing the biggest musical icons of our time. The historical event will include extraordinary items from those artists who have played important roles in shaping our pop culture.
Eric Clapton is highlighted in the upcoming auction at Julien’s Auctions. The 18-time GRAMMY Award winner and triple inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is represented in the Icons and Idols: Rock n’ Roll auction with over 20 items including signed clothing, boots, suits, his BMI certificates and more. The auction of Eric Clapton’s items from his personal life and career will benefit Clapton’s Crossroads Centre which he founded in 1998.
A small sampling of important lots that celebrate the life and career of Prince include a 1959 Gibson L48 guitar, two rare photos of Prince with the guitar taken by Robert Whitman at Prince’s first photo shoot, and Prince’s Paisley Black jacket worn by Prince when he landed in Sheridan, Wyoming for the premiere of Under the Cherry Moon (Warner Bros., 1986).
Other extraordinary highlights include the only known Beatles “Hard Day’s Night” album that was signed on the front cover by all of The Beatles; The Beatles GRAMMY Nomination plaque; a John Lennon and Yoko Ono signed “Bed In” display photograph; Jimi Hendrix signed arrest documents; Michael Jackson’s video and photo shoot worn wardrobe pieces; a Pat Smear Foo Fighters smashed guitar; and Roy Orbison’s 1953 signed yearbook and photos from his “Wink Westerner” and “Teen Kings Band.”
