This classic Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL has a very exotic blue blood flowing through his veins, and it is owned by the late Jordanian King Hussein. During his reign this Middle Eastern country, which lasted from 1952 to 1999, the king demanded only the best cars, and this special Mercedes fits all current needs that were represented at the royal family on their family estate in Ascot, nestled in the UK.
King Hussein’s Armored Mercedes
Produced in 1987, the 560 SEL was armored to ‘B4 level’, meaning that thicker glass was fitted all around, the roof and floor were strengthened, and armor plating was added. It is estimated that in 1988 this operation has cost huge £200,000 and the car afterwards as a result weighed about four tons roughly. However, despite its incredible weight, this Mercedes can easily cruise thanks to its V8 engine displacement of 5.6 liters and 300 horsepower. Finished in Pearl Grey over a black leather interior, the car has heated and electronically operated front seats, a telephone, the original Becker Mexico CD ‘Autoradio’ system, and a microphone, connected to an exterior speaker hidden in the grille, which is found in the glovebox.
King Hussein’s Armored Mercedes
Despite being 29 years old, the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL is still able to fulfill its original duties today, according to people from Silverstone Auctions. On the odometer it has 41,827 kilometers and the car comes accompanied by their original brochures, manuals, service booklets and MoT certificate. The auctioneers estimate that it will fetch somewhere between £25,000 and £30,000 at the November 12 event at the NEC in Birmingham.
