After Nike’s self-lacing sneakers, we have a chance to see another high-tech shoe, this time inspired by Virgin America’s first class cabins. Developed by US creative agency Eleven Inc., the Virgin America First Class shoe isn’t self-lacing like Nike Mag, but it boasts all high-tech amenities available in first class, such as built-in screens, ‘mood lighting’, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a phone charger.
This futuristic sneakers are also crafted from the same Italian white leather used on its first-class seats and comes with a seat belt buckle for fastening.
The shoes, described by the airline as being ‘a piece of historic aviation memorabilia’, are being sold on eBay to raise money for charity and currently have bids exceeding $10,000 (£8,100).
