Become the owner of a real royal castle – Fogelvik, an amazing castle in Sweden! This castle was the home of Carl Knutsson Bonde (who was king, three times during the 1400s), and passed through his heirs, the Bonde, Gyllenstierna, Horn, Thott, Posse and other clans, to the current owners (the castle is separated from the rest of the manor) who, in 1995, saved the castle and grounds for posterity and restored Fogelvik in to its former grandeur.
This beautiful place that inspired King Oscar II of Sweden to write a poem has been listed on sale and can be yours, just in case you have $4 million.
Imagine all the benefits of a castle which was once owned by a king? The castle has large doors opening on a furnishable entrance hall with old stone floor and beautiful murals. The hall is the connection point for the castle. The castle has a unique oval dining room with a ceiling height of 6 metres, wall paintings by .J B Masreleiz and access out to the terrace facing the sea, two lounges and a display room in a row, along with the library.
The first floor can be accessed via the staircase hall with its beautifully worn stone floor. Here there is an oval billiard room with a beautiful view, as well as about seven bedrooms, as well as a master bedroom next to the large bathroom that is adjacent to the dressing room next door. On the upper level, there are fireplaces in almost every room and the ceiling height on this floor is 3.5 m.
The second floor is divided into rooms, and was previously been used as a dwelling for servants and an infirmary.
The upper attic floor is completely unfurnished. The basement is partly unfurnished, except for a large modern scullery with various storage rooms, dining room, two maid’s rooms, and a bathroom with shower, a wine cellar, and a boiler room. This was also once a former dungeon!
The Eastern wing has two floors and a half basement. The lower floor of this wing has now been renovated and is being used as a dwelling. This building, too, has been declared a landmark.
The Church Wing has also two floors and a half basement. The ground floor consists of a large hall, which can make a great site for celebrations, and a smaller room. The upper floor has five rooms with low ceilings. In the basement, with an entrance from the water side, is the old laundry room. Also, from all sides this gorgeous property is surrounded by sea.
