Wine lovers with a taste for fancy decanters and very deep pockets can now pick up a bottle of a rare Australian vintage for $185,000. Penfolds has collaborated with the French glassmaker, Saint-Louis to produce a range of decanters you can pour your Grange from. The top of the range certainly is this extravagant decanter kit called the Aevum Imperial Service Ritual containing an imperial (6-litre) bottle of Penfolds’ 2012 Grange (Australia’s most famous wine) plus a hand-blown, hand-cut crystal decanter to pour it from.
This special offering also includes a trip to Penfolds in South Australia to the launch event, dinner, and exclusive wine tasting with Penfolds’ chief winemaker.
The “rare and refined” crystal decanter promises owners the “perfect pour”, said Penfolds.
If you want to splash for some Saint-Louis without springing for the Imperial, there’s also a cheaper version – the $2100 Aevum crystal decanter, which comes with a 750ml bottle of the 2012 Grange. The standard 750ml bottle of the new vintage of Penfolds’ Grange retails in Australia for $850.
