The British car company decided to finish the job they started long ago, so nine lucky ones will be able to enjoy just made Jaguars XKSS which are manufactured to the specification of 1957. After Jaguar withdrew from racing tracks in 1956, remained a couple of famous model D-Type (among others, the triple Le Mans winners), and many different parts for them.
Someone remembered, and therefore the decision was made on the basis of the remaining model D-Type version of the road device XKSS with which, after the modification of the original bodywork came a larger windshield, doors, even the tubular luggage rack behind the seats.

At the same time, underbody mechanical components are not much modified.
In 1957 of the remaining D-Type versions Jaguar made 25 cars, but only 16 copies met their owners, because nine cars swallowed a large fire that broke out in Jaguar’s factory Browns Lane.
To finish the job they started long ago, and made again nine destroyed XKSS model, the Jaguar’s enthusiasts really worked hard (after an 18-month preliminary research and analysis).

The result of all are nine original Jaguar XKSS whose chassis numbers match the numbers of copies that is distroyed by the fire. Bodies are hand made of magnesium alloy, and Dunlop has supplied disk brakes, tires and two-piece magnesium wheels, of course according to the specifications from 1957.
The “old new” XKSS boasts 6-cylinder 3.4 liter engine from the model D-Type, which is powered by Weber carburetors and has slightly more than 260 hp, and reliance from the D-Type model.

The interior (materials, colors, instruments …) fully corresponds to the interior of the original from 1957, and in the Jaguar says that the only changes from the original are made by installing the fuel tank which material meet today’s safety standards.
All of the nine aforementioned lucky ones already allocated 1,117,000 euros for their specimen, which isn’t much for such a masterpiece, if you take into account that the production of each specimen took 10,000 hours of manual labor.
