Frenchman who has recently inherited a house in Normandy found in it 100 kilograms of gold, worth €3.5 million, announced today one real estate agency.
“There were 5,000 gold pieces, two bars of 12 kilos and 37 ingots of 1 kilo,” said a representative of the agency.
The gold was hidden in various places in the house: under or behind furniture, in closets under the clothes, in the packaging of alcoholic beverages and in other boxes.
The successor of the house found 100kg (220lb) of gold when he decided to take out a part of furniture and bring others.
Local media reported that a Frenchman is liable for a 45-percent inheritance tax, and he will also have to pay three years in back taxes on it if the deceased failed to declare his treasures.
