The second release from the Macallan Edition series is a collaboration between Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno and the three brothers behind El Celler de Can Roca (named Best Restaurant in the World twice by Restaurant magazine).
Macallan Edition No. 2 is crafted from seven different cask types handpicked by the collaborators to represent different aspects of their personality.
The dinstictive and dynamic character of Macallan Edition No. 2 has been shaped not only by the use of seven exceptional oak casks types from four different bodegas but by the creative spirit of each collaborators; combining flavours to reflect different aspects of their personality in the resulting whisky.
Drawn from the European and American oak casks, this limited edition is characterful single malt that showcases Macallan’s extraordinary commitment to sourcing and selecting only the best oak casks for their releases.
Nose: Treacle, ginger, toffee apples and rich fruits. Layers of vanilla open into tropical fruits and subtle green wood.
Palate: Warm with spice as cracked black pepper and cloves join with hints of chocolate, brown sugar, oak and nuts. Finally, liquorice and brandy snaps come through.
Finish: Full, slow, warm and wonderfully viscous.
Macallan Edition No. 2, bottled at 48.2% ABV, will cost you £65, or about $80 USD.
