Large auction houses are preparing for the event in Scottsdale, Arizona. In January, is held one of the largest auction event in the world, and among the last to confirm participation is the Gooding & Company, which has prepared models from before the war.
Foremost among them is the Bugatti in the image. Chassis number 4487 is a Type 35 Grand Prix racer from 1925. This is one of the most successful racing cars of its time, if not of the whole history of the automobile.
The car was purchased a new by Wallis C. Bird, he was driving on US races. It remained in his collection until his death in a plane crash in 1961, and after that it belongs to his widow. The car was sold along with the rest of the collection, and purchased by Henry Austin Clark, from whom the current owner bought it 35 years ago.
The car was held in perfect condition in French Racing Blue color. This Type 35 was estimated at about $ 3 million when it came up for auction on 20 January.
