For the next month and for the auction in Arizona, RM Sotheby’s annouces the sale of beautiful Mercedes 540K Special Roadster (with a 5.4-liter eight-cylinder engine), which is expected to achieve a price of $7.4 to $8.4 million. It is about one of only 419 copies of 540K model that Mercedes made at the end of the thirties of the last century, with this particular specimen commissioned in 1939 by Rolf Horn from Berlin. This specimen, according to some might be the last ever produced before the outbreak of the Second World War.
After the war, the car ended in East Berlin, and were used by the Soviets who later transported it to Moscow. However, the car somehow ended up in Sweden, and then in the United States where it is today.
