One of the most popular mechanical elements in the world of watchmaking – chronograph is designed by Nicolas Rieussec, French watchmaker whose skills continued Montblanc brand. However, history has received a new version when in 2012 pocket watch with a high frequency, the work of Louis Moinet was rediscovered. Originally created in 1816, the watch was created before Rieussec’s work, but rather resembles a mechanical chronographs that we see today in the market. If a little calculated, you ‘ll realize it’s been 200 years since the creation of this watch, so exactly why Louis Moinet brand presents a new limited edition of its Memoris, inspired by world’s first chronograph, as a tribute to the ingenuity and skill of the founder of the brand.
The prototype that you can see in our gallery was sold at auction in November, and contains the same arrangement on the dial as it had a pocket watch which was inspired, with a few details that enhance its aesthetics. Now, it has a blue enamel dial that everyone want to own.
The man who won the auction in November, also received a copy of the original Moinet 1855 Traité d’Horlogerie, which is a real collector’s item. Also, part of the offer was the unique black packaging for a watch, ideal for traveling.
