Kalorama is having a moment in the spotlight right now. This section of D.C. has a new respected resident – Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. The billionaire founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post reportedly splashed out $23 million on a pair of mansions in the upscale Washington, D.C. neighborhood which has long attracted notable names such as past presidents like Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt or Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

However, Bezos’ mammoth 26,900-square-foot home is the largest private home in Washington, D.C., which he plans on converting to a single-family home. Renovation plans for the historic ten-bedroom, 14-bath propertywhich sits on 0.78 acres, are already drawn up by architecture firm Barnes Vanze, and are under review by the local Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, as well as their four children, reside primarily in Seattle, but once their palatial D.C. home is finished, they will have quite the East Coast pied-à-terre.
