Models of Porsche cars rarely reach a nine-digit prices at auctions unlike some examples of Ferrari, but some of them can still go for a fortune. One of the most outstanding copies, from the last sale held at the auction house RM Sotheby’s in Paris, is Porsche 959 Sport from 1988, which set a new record for its type – €1,96 million ($2,1 million). Now we can present one of the best examples of how Porsche works – 911 model was the technological towing horse and one of the superior supercar from eighties.
Zufenhausen produced only 284 units of this model, of which only 29 were Sport versions with rollbars instead of luxury that adorned Komfort series, from which they were also a lot easier.
What is even more interesting, the 959 was not even in the top of the overall sales. RM sold model Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 racing car from 1939 for €3.9 million, as well as a very rare Ferrari Daytona Spider for €2.15 million, but still Dino, Ferrari’s prototype overshadowed them, which was sold by Artcural company for €4.4 million on their personal auction in the same event.
959 is the top model of the expanded scope Porsche company sold, and in it are also included 911 Turbo convertible from 1995, 911 Turbo S, which was created a year earlier and a unique 901 Convertible. There is also found an amazing model 911 R which showed the true value of Porsche company that are more focused towards the driver of all sports cars of the brand and existed in a very short time interval.
