The first assocciation on humidor is a collection of Cubans ready to be enjoyed after dinner or at other enjoyable and special moments. Some sources claims that first humidor was created in 1887 when Terence Manning, an Irish furniture maker, returned to his home in Bagenalstown, Ireland from South Africa where he learned about fine woods and crafting techniques. He had learned the skills for the crafting exquisite furniture and cabinetry, but also the international contacts necessary to locate and purchase the very finest materials available.

The Manning family of Ireland are deemed the inventors and distributors of the earliest cigar humidors. As of 2010, the creators have been in operation for over four generations.
Not a smoker? Forget aforementioned story and focus on the following – world’s first tea humidor. The history of tea is long and complex, spreading across multiple cultures over the span of thousands of years. And, not to spread the story of tea and its drinking, it was a matter of time before someone will invent something to keep speciality teas in top condition. London-based interiors company Lotusier and Åsa Eriksson-Ahuja joined forces and have just begun accepting preorders for the world’s first tea humidor (about $8,750).

Available in five collections inspired by the tea drinking cultures of China, Japan, the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and the West, each humidor is handcrafted using responsibly sourced fine woods and materials from around the world with space for up to six individually stored teas.
A native of Sweden, Eriksson-Ahuja personally designed the humidor in 2011 as a gift for her tea-loving husband, who would become disappointed when his collectible teas from around the world would lose their flavor. Now after years of research and fine-tuning, the humidor has earned the approval of Madame Yu Hui Tseng, one of only 10 masters of the Chinese Gungfu tea ceremony, and it is ready for the public.
