Pop up themes are becoming very popular these days. And, Washington DC boasts new pop-up bar which is ode to to the world of Super Mario. Attached to the popular Cherry Blossom pop-up bar in Washington DC this separate space has been very thoughtfully decorated to recreate the Super Mario universe. Inside you’ll find drinks, dishes, and decor like origami, waving cats, Japanese sake and an entire room dedicated to Super Mario Bros.
In addition to food and drinks, the pop-up provides plenty of entertainment through Mario Kart contests, bartenders in costumes, plenty of different photo ops (including the very Instagram worthy mural in the Cherry Blossom room), a special corner dedicated to super villain King Koopa, and all the unsuspected moving objects / mushroom filled ceiling. There’s even a special menu that’s 100% Nintendo themed.
If you get tired of the Super Mario theme, you can always walk over to the connected bar that features a cherry blossom theme.
The pop-up Super Mario bar is located at Mockingbird Hill and will remain open till April 15. It’s open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
