Luxury Swiss watch maker Hysek celebrates its 20th birthday this year, and also commemorates 10th anniversary of one its original creations. And, to mark this occasion, this company renowned for its innovative and intricate complicationscreate a truly stunning complex, the aptly names Hysek Colossal. Limited edition Colossal Grande Complication watch, only available in 18-karat rose gold and featuring one of the most complex vertical linear displays ever constructed.
This 100% in-house Grande Complication piece features a perpetual calendar in which every display uses a roller, as well as for the jumping hours and minutes.

The unprecedented piece boasts over 1,080 components that measures 57 x 18 x 44 mm and took three years to develop.
Instead of a circular display using flat gears, the watch features roller-based numeric linear displays that use vertical gears, and displays the time in a 24-hour format. To make the watch give the true time of 00:00 for midnight, Hysek incorporated a jumping mechanism into the roller-based movement. A few minutes before midnight, the 3 in 23:59 discretely rolls back to a 9. Then, at midnight, the display is able to jump from 29:59 straight to 00:00 in what the company calls “a veritable mechanical ballet.”
The tourbillon beats at a fast rate of 4Hz and it has a balance wheel made out of titanium and a balance spring made out of a special alloy called PE4000.
