At Baselword 2017, Romain Gauthier introduced its newest timepiece – the Insight Micro-Rotor. This high-end, self-winding timepiece offers elegance and efficiency, precision and power, stealth and splendour. The watch’s case is made in either platinum or red gold and measures in at 39.5mm across and 12.9mm high. The overlapping dials for the hours/minutes and seconds are both enamel (in blue, black, or white) over 18k gold base plates.
Insight Micro-Rotor’s off-centre hour, minute and small second indications are powered by a finely-finished, in-house calibre boasting bidirectional micro-rotor made from 22k gold. This oscillating weight – visible dial side and through the display back – turns fluidly and noiselessly between two bridges, each fitted with a friction-minimising, wear-resistant ruby bearing. The watch contains 206 total components and has an 80-hour power reserve.
Romain Gauthier is launching the Insight Micro-Rotor in two limited editions, one in red gold for 75,000 CHF (approximately $75,200 at time of publishing) and one in platinum for 88,000 CHF (approximately $88,250). Each limited edition will be 30 pieces total, with 10 pieces each available with white, blue, and black enamel dials.
