At this year’s SIHH exhibition, renowned Swiss watchmaker Greubel Forsey presents a brilliant model on which works for more than 11 years … Called Greubel Forsey Grande Sonnerie, this epic timepiece is the first design of the brand with sound effects and a miracle. You probably know that sound complications are the most difficult mechanisms for development from the start, so it is not surprising that more than ten years and 935 different components needed for the creation of this little masterpiece.
Designed to be comfortable, wrapped in lightweight titanium, Greubel Forsey Grande Sonnerie packed all of its 935 components in the casing diameter of 43.5 mm. Only a few watches of this type is made with automatic winding, and this model has a manual winding movement, which offers 72-hour power reserve. At least, that’s amazing, considering that the grand sonnerie mechanism requires a lot of energy to emit a sound every 15 minutes.
According the people from this brand, it has eleven additional mechanisms, which are integrated into the main mechanism to preserve the incredibly complex and delicate sound complications. Therefore, when this is taken into account, the price of this model of 1,150,000 Swiss francs isn’t so surprising, but only five to a maximum of eight pieces will be produced each year.
