Harry Winston’s Histoire de Tourbillon is a sophisticated collection of limited edition timepieces dedicated to the craftsmanship of one of the most revered and complex horological complications. Launched in 2009, each Histoire de Tourbillon underscores Harry Winston’s continued pursuit of excellence in innovation, by presenting the tourbillon in a series of spectacular new forms.
New Histoire de Tourbillon 8 features two bi-axial tourbillons. Each of them is made up out of 117 parts, yet weighs only 0.76 grams. Both have an outer cage which makes a full rotation every 75 seconds at a 30-degree inclined axis, and within a second cage makes a full rotation in 45 seconds. Within the latter, the balance wheel keeps the tempo at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Together, these tourbillons display time through the use of two off-centre cones, housed in a large white gold case dedicated entirely to the grand complication.
The power reserve of the watch, a healthy 55 hours, is displayed by a grooved scroll, located at the bottom of the dial. It fits nicely in with the cone design of hour and minutes, which are positioned on right side of the detailed dial.
The case itself is made out of 18K white gold. Available in two color variations, each version is an exclusive 10-piece limited-edition. The first color variation is pure anthracite with blue accents and the second version features dark gray with intense red accents.
