If your answer is “buy a Ferrari,” then you’re not alone. In fact, this is exactly what Elton John did when Goodbye Yellow Brick Road reached the peak of its glory, or at least the story goes, taking over the keys of this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona from 1972, which a few decades later ended at the auction.

Although Ferrari created almost 1,300 units of the Daytona car during the six years of production, only 158 were originally adapted to the right-hand side. Sir Elton John bought one of them, painted in classical red-black shades. He owned this car since 1973, when he set his seventh studio album to music store shelves during the second half of the seventies, after which he changed the owners, and at one of them it remained for 16 years.

The car presents in exceptional condition having been very well maintained by its previous owners, including Sir Elton John, adding extra appeal and distinction to this rare and collectible classic car.”

Now, with 81,675 miles on the odometer, the auction house estimates that this model Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona will be sold for a figure of between £525,000 – 575,000 ($680,900 – 745,750), when the hammer finally struck at the end of this month.
