Dr. Erik Brandenburg, a rallye and Porsche 911 enthusiast entered the 2007 Transsyberia Rallye with a 911 Safari he´d build himself over the time of 2 years. Not only he entered the rally, but at one point he headed ahead of the factory-prepared Cayenne. At the end of the automobile marathon he finished in ninth position and decided after the race to make three more copies identical to the one he used on the rally.
