The most valuable firearm of Romanian Communist leader Nikolae Ceausescu, the hunting rifle “Holland & Holland.”, were sold yesterday for €32,500 at an auction in Bucharest. A rifle decorated with gold, which was made in 1933 at the command of the head of the Royal Legation of Romania in Tirana for King Carol II, was sold to the online customer, and the starting price was €12,000.
Following the abolition of the monarchy at the end of the Second World War, the new communist government confiscated a royal rifle. After several decades, it came into the possession of Causeway, whose name was engraved on it.
Ceausescu was last in a hunting on December 10, 1989, two weeks before he and his wife Elena were sentenced to death over the court and executed.
He is officially attributed to the killing of 400 animals, but many believe that animals are killed by his associates and that he was a bad shot.
Nikolae Ceausescu ruled Romania from 1965 to 1989.
