A former Royal Navy search-and-rescue helicopter has returned to service, but this time as glamping accommodation.
This decommissioned Sea King helicopter has been transformed into into a holiday home for six people, which welcome guests within a luxurious environment including a mini kitchen, shower room, and bed. It’s surprisingly roomy, with a double and a triple bed as well as a single bed at its tail end. One of the bedrooms features a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door and a folding sofa bed to create an additional lounge area.

Promising comfortable and laid back living, this helicopter will also charm everyone with an intimate cockpit seating area, which offers incredible views over the landscape of Stirling, Scotland, from a picturesque Thornhill campsite, where this helicopter can be found.
Stirling farmer Martyn Steedman and his wife Louise bought the Sea King in an online MoD auction in March last year and have spent nearly £40,000 converting it into glamping accommodation.

“We’ve retained the original dashboard, roof panel switches and foot pedals, so customers can experience the helicopter as she once was and pretend they are flying her on a mission,” Mr Steedman explained.
The glamping accommodation option is available to guests from spring this year at £150 per night per couple.
