Watchmakers A. Lange & Söhne are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their first store. While the brand A. Lange & Söhne was revived in 1994 (with the launch of an entire collection, including the iconic Lange 1), the first brand boutique only opened in September 2007 and was located directly adjacent to the Dresden Frauenkirche, a landmark of the baroque city which was restored between 1994 and 2005.
Now, to commemorate the landmark anniversary, the brand has launched a limited edition of their 1815 watch with a specifically engraved hinged “Cuvette” – dust cover or officer back – to make it really special.
The watch features a 38.5 mm case, whose back has been hand engraved with the delicate and detailed design. The caseback, once opened, reveals the well-known hand-wound calibre L051.1. This superbly decorated movement (gold chatons with blued screws, 3/4 plate in German silver, superb hand-engraving on the cock bridge, polished steel parts, bevelled angles…) offers 55h of power reserve and operates at a 3Hz frequency.
This simple but superb movement is of course entirely manufactured in-house, in Glashütte, Germany.
Twenty watches of the anniversary edition have been created, 10 each in pink and white gold. Price to be confirmed – the standard 1815 is priced at 21,700 Euro, so expect close to 25,000 Euro for this “Cuvette” version.
