Louis Vuitton has collaborated with artist Jeff Koons on a new accessories line which celebrates great painters, from Rubens to Van Gogh. The collection entitled “Masters” features Koons classing paintings on Louis Vuitton’s iconic handbags including Speedy 30, Neverfull MM, Keepall 50, Montaigne MM and Palm Springs Backpack. Aside from the bags, small leather goods, bag charms and shawls are also included in the collection.
Each bag is emblazoned with the name of the artist and also showcases Koons’s reconfiguration of the Louis Vuitton monogram which bears his own initials – the first time in the brand’s history that it has allowed its world-famous motif to be modified. The bags are finished with a rabbit-shaped leather tag in a tribute to Koons’s stainless steel 1986 Rabbit sculpture, one of the artist’s most celebrated works.
The famous works of art have also been transposed on to Louis Vuitton shawls and silk squares.
One of the most interesting items is the folio case for iPhone 8 Plus (also iPhone 7 Plus) which bears all of the brand’s monogram symbols in addition to the Da Vinci’s name and his most famous painting. The interior is lined with pink leather and a silver embossed message reveals details of this surprising collaboration between Koons and LV as well as some tidbits about Da Vinci himself. Its price is $880.
